Xi'an Beilin (Stele Forest) Museum

The collection started in 1078, to keep one carved text from being lost. Nine hundred years later there are nearly 3,000 stone tablets — 1,087 of them standing in six corridors, seven halls and eight pavilions.

Xi'an's Beilin Museum — China's largest collection of stone steles — added an official 720° panoramic digital hall and AR guidance, so calligraphy and Tang-history visitors can preview it before a Xi'an transit.

Most visitors head straight for the Terracotta Army and miss the Stele Forest; its official digital hall makes the significance of the inscriptions accessible without reading classical Chinese.
